Retinitis Pigmentosa
Wills: 341-345


  • RP is the most common retinal dystrophy
  • AR is the most common
  • AD is the least severe
  • X-linked is rarest but most severe

This has three main signs

  • Retinal bone-spicule (pigment clumps in the periphery)
  • Arteriolar attenuation
  • Waxy Optic Disc Pallor

What are some of the symptoms:

  • Night blindness
  • peripheral vision loss (early stage: in dim light only)
  • Color vision is intact until late stage
